Fix Google Earth Crashing on startup in Ubuntu 10.04 , Ubuntu 10.10

Applications > Accessories > Terminal  or  Ctrl+Alt+T

$ sudo gedit ~/.config/Google/GoogleEarthPlus.conf

And then search for "enableTips" and if it exists, change it from "true" to "false". If it doesn't exist, under "[General]", add:

enableTips=false
